Held on March 19th-21st 2021, Brawijaya English Tournament or BET is an annual event of FORMASI on a national scale. This year, BET carried the theme “Mythical Forest” with the tagline “Weave Your Fate”. Well, Because of the pandemic in 2020, this event should be held online. But even though it was held online it didn’t discourage the intention of students all over the world to participate in BET 2021.
There are five fields of English competition that are available in BET 2021. First, there is Newscasting, which engages participants to become an anchor and reporter in broadcasting news. The second field is debate, a group of participants will compete for their argument about some conflict. Other than that, there is speech, which assess the participant’s ability to speak in public. Fourth is storytelling, in which participants will convey a story to listeners, so they get carried away by the atmosphere of the stories. Not only that! BET 2021 has a new field of competition, which is Short Story Writing! The participants will create prose fiction. It was a fun experience overall!
