BRAWIJAYA ENGLISH TOURNAMENT STRIKES BACK !

NEW FIELD OF COMPETITION THIS YEAR

Almost 70 Highschool from all over the nation comes together to University of Brawijaya at February 14th – 16th, 2014 in their mission to claim the thrones of Brawijaya English Tournament Champions. Brawijaya English Tournament, known as BET, is an annual English competition held by FORMASI Universitas Brawijaya that aimed for high school students as a the real program manifestation of FORMASI to proliferate English skills not only for UB’s students but also all young generation in general. This is the third year of BET that held in nation-wide level, since been upgraded from regional java-bali level at 2012. The thing that is different from last year BET is the adding of new field of competition. Previously, there’re only 2 field inside the tournament, Story Telling Competition and, the oldest one, English Debating Competition. Yet now in 2014, speech is on the list to response the animo of high-school students in doing public speaking especially speech.

To ensure the quality of adjudicating, BET tried to provide the best adjudicators in each fields. Invi Atmanegara, debater from Bina Nusantara International University, Jakarta is invited as the Chief Adjudicator in Debate Competition. She is Indonesia representative in two series of WUDC, 2013 at Berlin, German and 2014 at Chennai, India. In story telling, we also involved several credible adjudicators that come from Lingkar Theater. So do in speech, native speakers and lecturer from Faculty of Cultural Studies is invited based on their master field.

Under the theme, Conquer Your Fear and Strive with Love, the organizing committee tries to embrace all the participants to prepare themselves for a tight and close competitive world in the near future. In response to that, instead of being selfish in all matter of competition, we need to always be fair and care to each other. This mindset will create a better quality of young generation in the future said M. Fajar Shiddiq Adjam (International Relations/FISIP), the project officer of BET 2014.
