With over than 600 participants from 119 institutions all across Asia, Brawijaya University managed to compete and brought home the Asian English Olympics (AEO) 2018’s Institutional Award as the institution with the most achievement in this year’s AEO. Brawijaya University is the first Institution from Indonesia to win the Award since 2012.
The contribution of Brawijaya University’s delegate in 6 out of 8 different competition fields made it possible for Brawijaya to bring home the trophy. The 6 competition fields include Speech, Storytelling, Newscast, Debate, Radio Drama, and Spelling Bee.
The result will never betray the effort, for the delegates had been preparing themselves during the semester break for the competition. 13 participants in total took the train all the way from Malang to Jakarta, where the event was held, and competed for 4 days. Most of the delegates are joined in a student activity unit known as FORMASI (Forum Mahasiswa Studi Bahasa Inggris), which specialty includes preparing its member to join competition and hold public speaking classes. They collaboration in their intensive trainings with the rest of the delegate gave birth to winners and champions in this year’s AEO.
Brawijaya University competed with more than 10 countries across Asia which includes; Malaysia, Singapore, Philippine, Laos, Cambodia, Macau, Bangladesh, India, Thailand, South Korea, and of course, various institutions from Indonesia, High school and University level.
